How quickly a year goes by! It seems like only yesterday that the networks rolled out such promising new hits as Fox’s Hieroglyph and Utopia, NBC’s A to Z and Bad Judge, ABC’s Selfie and CBS’ The McCarthys.
But from that pile of quickly forgotten failures, a few phoenix (phoenii? phoenixes?) rose. Here, we take a brief trip back to 2014 to look at the few, the proud, the renewed:
Fox’s Empire
Undeniably, the hit of 2014.
ABC’s TGIT, featuring the latest soapy goodness from Shonda Rhimes, How to Get Away with Murder:
ABC’s Black-ish, putting a fine point on the fact that yes, diversity works just fine in primetime, thank you very much.
And The CW’s not one but two breakouts, Jane the Virgin and The Flash.
The broadcast upfronts are upon us but there are still a few shows we still haven’t even seen yet.
Wayward Pines (small spoiler: if you think you are going to get the same Terrence Howard that you’ve grown to love in Empire, think again.)
