Netflix’s Chief Content Officer made his second appearance at the TCA press tour on Tuesday, presenting a day full of panels representing 475 hours of original content coming to the streaming service this year.
It’s hard to believe that Netflix has only been at TCA twice, but it’s harder to believe that Netflix, now one of the biggest players in Emmy-winning series, has only been in the original content business for three years.
House of Cards premiered in February 2013, sparking the success of dramas to come after it, including Orange is the New Black, Bloodline and Marvel’s Daredevil, as well as new comedies like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Grace and Frankie.
Some of these shows, such as House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Kimmy Schmidt, have become wildly successful, worming their way into the pop culture and grabbing all sorts of awards attention.
Others, not so much. Did anyone watch Marco Polo, Hemlock Grove or the dearly departed Lilyhammer?
See some of those series’ original trailers below before gearing up for the debuts of Netflix’s next originals Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Narcos and Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
