Each year, an exclusive list of TV shows and movies are highlighted at Comic-Con with long lines to panels, booths devoted just to them and, if fans are lucky, exclusive trailers and teasers.
This year will (hopefully) be no different, with new shows and new seasons coming out for some of the Con’s most popular TV brands.
So as we prepare for another year of first-look trailers, teasers and casting announcements, let’s look back on what was making headlines this time last year in San Diego.
Family Guy/Simpsons crossover:
Fox and Animation Domination teased the special crossover episode with a five-minute clip of the Griffins wondering what state Springfield is in and the Simpsons being accused of having hepatitis.
Doctor Who:
Whovians were treated to a special promo called “Listen,” just weeks before the new Doctor landed Aug. 23 on BBC and BBC America.
Game of Thrones:
The immensely popular HBO fantasy series not only announced nine new cast members for season five, but also, without having many teasers to unveil as the next season wouldn’t premiere for more than eight months, released an exclusive blooper reel to delighted panel goers.
Outlander:
The Starz drama released its main title sequence with its own original song during Comic-Con last year, adding to an extensive onsite presence for the show that would premiere weeks after the event.
The Walking Dead:
Last but certainly not least, AMC’s Walking Dead, which also debuts new key art for each year at Comic-Con, premiered a trailer for season five last year that gave some insight about what the gang was encountering at Terminus.
