Seth MacFarlane is sticking around TBS for two more years, the network announced Thursday.

TBS has ordered two more seasons of the animated American Dad as part of a larger network strategy for more original series on TBS’ lineup, including more live action and more animated comedies. The strategy also includes TBS’ sister network Adult Swim, which airs each new episode of the comedy after its TBS broadcast.

“We look forward to keeping the crazy-but-lovable Smith family around for a long time,” said Deborah Bradley, EVP of networks optimization and content commercialization for Turner Broadcasting, in a statement.

The plan was announced by Turner’s Kevin Reilly back in May at the upfronts, and American Dad’s renewal is one of the first of the brand’s move toward owning more original fare.

Turner’s plans include ramping up its original slate to more than 15 series by 2017, with a rebrand to kick it all off at the end of this year.

Rashida Jones’ Angie Tribeca and Jason Jones’ The Detour will be part of this move to original comedies on TBS when they debut soon.
