Worlds collide in The CW’s new series, All American, when football coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) recruits high school football superstar Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) to play for Beverly Hill High School away from South Crenshaw High in South Central LA.

James’ mom and friends encourage him to seize the opportunity, but it all gets complicated quickly. James’ teammates don’t accept him readily and even the quarterback — who also happens to be Baker’s son — resents the new recruit.

The show is inspired by the life of the NFL’s Spencer Paysinger.

Besides Ezra and Diggs, the show stars Samantha Logan, Bre-Z, Greta Onieogou, Monet Mazur, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian and Karimah Westbrook.

It comes from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Berlanti Productions, with executive producers April Blair (Reign), Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Riverdale), Sarah Schechter (The Flash, Riverdale) and Rob Hardy (Power).

All American premieres on The CW on Wednesday. Oct. 10.
