Susanne McAvoy has joined Discovery, Inc.‘s Food Network as senior vice president of marketing.

“Food Network is undeniably one of the most recognized and followed consumer brands today,” McAvoy said. “Joining the team that has cultivated such beloved and successful engagements is both a professional and personal high point. I’m truly excited to help shepherd this brand and its passionate fans into the future.”

In her new role, she will oversee all marketing, creative services, strategy and partnerships, among other disciplines for the lifestyle brand. The announcement was made by Food Network president Courtney White, to whom McAvoy will report.

“From her deep background in brand stewardship to her proven track record at attracting coveted female audiences, Susanne is a difference maker,” White said. “I am confident in her ability to further the loyalty our passionate Food Network fans have for our brand, programs and hosts and to drive new audiences.”

McAvoy joins from an 11-year run at Crown Media Family Networks. There, she led all marketing, creative and communications, as well as directed social media initiatives and SVOD strategies. She’s also credited with leading the 2012 rebrand of Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel’s transition to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2014, and more.

McAvoy got her start at Turner International in Hong Kong. She’s also held senior corporate, affiliate and ad sales marketing positions with companies like Oxygen Media, Comcast Spotlight and MTV prior to joining Crown Media. Throughout her career, she’s won multiple PromaxBDA Awards, an Ad Council Silver Bell Award and Cable Advertising Bureau Awards, on top of being named one of Advertising Age’s Women to Watch, a Marketer of the Year by Cablefax, and a Multichannel News’ Wonder Woman. She graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degrees in communications and psychology.
