As The CW President Mark Pedowitz predicted this summer, Supergirl immediately became the network’s biggest show as it moved over from CBS.

In its Monday 8 p.m. debut, Supergirl was the network’s most-watched show in the time slot in nearly eight years, since an episode of Gossip Girl that aired on December 1, 2008. It more than tripled the total viewers and ratings of last year’s entry in the time period, Golden Globe-winning Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The premiere also was the highest-rated show ever in the time period among men 18-49, as well as the network’s best adults 18-49 rating in nearly six years and its highest adults 18-34 rating in five years, according to Nielsen’s overnight fast affiliate ratings.
Compared to last season’s time-period averages, Supergirl was up 246 percent in total views to just over 3 million, up 200 percent in adults 18-34 to a 0.9 rating/4 share, and up 267 percent in adults 18-49 to a 1.1/4. The season premiere on The CW also rose by 29 percent compared to last spring’s finale on CBS.
