Season one Stranger Things took place right before Christmas in 1983 and season two will return just in time for Halloween.

Netflix revealed an October 27 return date for the breakout hit series, and debuted a teaser and key art that shows the core cast of kids (minus Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven) riding their bikes toward an inferno looming in the sky.

According to the season two description: “It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the demagorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.”

The premiere date announcement also included some key dates for events in season one, citing speculation they could all play a part in the plot of season two.

- 1953, date unknown - MKUltra comes to Hawkins and begins experimentation

- 1979 - Police Chief Jim Hopper returns to Hawkins

- 1983, November 6 - The vanishing of Will Byers

- 1983, November 8 - The vanishing of Barbara Holland

Stranger Things is created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer and became a nostaligic horror sensation when it debuted last year. The series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp and Charlie Heaton, along with Brown. New cast members this season include Paul Reiser, Sean Astin, Will Chase and Brett Gelman.

The show is expected to be an Emmy Awards contender when nominations are announced on Thursday.
