STATE Design, a new studio based in Santa Monica, CA, has officially launched and is presenting its work, notably an animation package for this year’s NFL Draft on the NFL Network.

The studio was founded by Creative Director Marcel Ziul and Executive Producer Joe Nash, both agency veterans with experience at TV networks and top design groups both in the U.S. and internationally. Nash was previously a producer at the NFL Network, but also worked with Troika on projects for clients including ESPN, DIRECTV and Canal+. Ziul has worked in Brazil and in the states with design agencies and also as a freelancer, contributing to studios such as Prologue Films, Stardust, Zoic Studios, Troika and Bigstar.

“Our business model is built around more direct involvement from the creative director and executive producer,” said Executive Producer Joe Nash. “We want to give people the same personal connection that we look for in our own work, which is why we’ll only take on a limited amount of projects – each client receives the hands-on attention he/she deserves.”

Other work by STATE Design so far includes a project for Ecological Corredor, released this summer for the FIFA World Cup.

“We chose the name STATE Design because we feel it is rich with meaning,” said Creative Director Marcel Ziul. “We always ask ourselves and our clients, ‘What is your state? What does your brand’s state look like and how do you want to make a statement?’ Our name envelops all of these ideas. More importantly, we see ourselves as an extension of our clients—a special forces unit that is highly trained and precise in communicating their ideas through design and animation.”
