Starz saw an uptick in viewers for its recent premieres of Outlander and Survivor’s Remorse, partly due to free premiere previews online, so it’s trying a similar tactic this time around for limited series The Missing, but with one significant change. Instead of offering a free preview of the premiere episode, The Missing’s entire eight-episode series will be available to stream before each episode appears on air.

For the week prior to each week’s airing, Starz will stream each episode on demand and via the Starz Play app starting with the premiere episode on Nov. 8. The channel will continue the strategy—airing episodes online before the network broadcast—through the finale in January 2015.

The Missing originally debuted this October in the U.K. on BBC One, tells the story of a family’s search for their son who disappeared while on vacation in France.

Brief Take: With this strategy, Starz is expanding the idea of a free episode preview, still ensuring that viewers will want to keep up with the show, just in their own way on their own devices.
