The Starz network unleashed a brand new trailer of its original series American Gods, directly after the show had its SXSW global premiere.

The preview, below, tells of the journey of Shadow Moon and Mr. Wednesday with new footage from the fantasy series.

American Gods, adapted from the award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman, presents a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die or are led astray by the technology, money and fame offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). In actuality, Mr. Wednesday is a strong old deity, on a cross-country quest to build an army and reclaim his former glory.

Other cast members in the series include Kristin Chenoweth as Easter, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Bruce Langley as Technical Boy, and Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy.

The fantasy drama is produced by FremantleMedia North America. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green are writers and showrunners. American Gods premieres April 30 at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
