From director Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) comes a trailer for Netflix’s new hip-hop drama The Get Down.
Set in a broken down and beaten up New York City during the summer of 1977, the series focuses on a rag-tag crew of South Bronx teenagers who, armed with verbal games, improvised dance steps and some spray cans, “make a pact that becomes bigger than all of them and change their lives—and the world—forever,” according to a description from Netflix.
The promo features new music from rap artist Nas. And also one line of dialogue: “That’s how we’re gonna go down. Do or die.”
The cast includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Skylan Brooks, Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Herizen Guardiola, Jaden Smith, and Tremaine Brown Jr.
The Get Down premieres April 12.
