Going home for the holidays isn’t as relaxing for some people as it is for others. For those for whom Thanksgiving is more like a war zone than a feast zone, Shameless’ Gallagher family has some helpful tips to keep from “tearing your loved ones apart.”

For example, “don’t bring up politics,” “focus on the food,” “keep conversation light,” “go easy on the booze” (a piece of advice the Gallaghers themselves rarely follow), “ignore their insults,” “find the nearest exit,” “leave early,” or “don’t just show up at all.”

But hopefully, you won’t have to put any of these pieces of advice to use as you head off to enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving.

Now in its ninth season on Showtime, Shameless stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Richard Flood and Christian Isaiah.

Created by Paul Abbott, Shameless is produced by Bonanza Productions in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Developed for American television by John Wells, the series is executive produced by Wells and Nancy M. Pimental.
