“I’m shooting in my hometown, that’s pretty thrilling,” says Claire Danes, who stars as Carrie Mathison at the start of a three-minute featurette going behind the scenes of Showtime’s Homeland, which premieres January 15.

The featurette spotlights Mathison’s character, a CIA agent who is bipolar. At the end of last season, Carrie was in Berlin trying to thwart an attack. In this season, the heroine moves to New York and creates a law firm that advocates on behalf of wrongfully accused Muslims.

The new season is being filmed in New York City, and will pick up a matter of months after the season-five climax, comprising the days between the election and the new president’s inauguration.

“There’s an electricity in New York, there’s an energy here, this is one of the epicenters of the world,” says actor Mandy Patinkin who plays Saul Berenson in the series.

“The pace is not going to get any slower,” says Danes about the sixth season, “the questions aren’t going to get any simpler and the characters aren’t going to get any less complex.”

Homeland also stars Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham and Elizabeth Marvel. Guest stars include Hill Harper, Robert Knepper, Patrick Sabongui and Dominic Fumusa.
