Showtime Networks Inc promoted David Nevins to the newly-created role of President of Showtime Networks on Tuesday.
The erstwhile entertainment chief also inked a new deal that will keep him at the company through 2018. He will add responsibility for Showtime Sports and the company’s marketing, creative and digital operations to his portfolio. Nevins continues to report to Chairman and CEO Matthew Blank.
“David Nevins is one of the most talented executives working in television today,” said Blank in announcing the promotion. “His arrival at Showtime was followed by an incredible period of renewal for our network, and these transformative years have led to critical acclaim, consistent buzz, subscriber growth and awards recognition.”
Nevins landed at Showtime in 2010, overseeing all aspects of development, acquisition and programming for the company.
During his tenure, Showtime has launched several Emmy-winning and critically-acclaimed series, including “Homeland,” “Ray Donovan,” “Masters of Sex,” “Shameless,” and “House of Lies.”
Before joining Showtime, Nevins was President of Imagine Entertainment from 2002 to 2010, when the company produced “Arrested Development,” “24,” “Parenthood,” and “Friday Night Lights.”
Brief Take: Showtime under Nevins has reestablished itself as a destination for critically acclaimed television, amassing nearly 100 Emmy nominations.
