The Ritz-Carlton New York will feature the Roosevelt era, while the Chicago Ritz-Carlton will of course focus on the Obamas. The Los Angeles Ritz-Carlton will take on Gerald and Betty Ford, while all three eras will come into play at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C.
Each of the First Lady Suites will include actual set pieces and props from the show’s sets, such as a replica of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s wheelchair, a model of the Betty Ford center and boxing glove from Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative. Each hotel also will display period costumes worn by the actors and serve themed food and drinks in their bars and restaurants. Before the collaboration ends, the suites will open to the public with docent-guided tours and First Lady-inspired versions of Ritz-Carlton’s famous cookies.
Marriott Bonvoy members also will have the opportunity to bid on First Lady-inspired experiences, including a private in-suite custom-curated dinner and drinks for two, featuring the First Ladies’ favorite recipes, or a trip to attend the show’s world premiere and after party.
“We are excited to collaborate with The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Bonvoy to bring to life the world of The First Lady for hotel guests, Marriott Bonvoy members and the public,” said Michael Engleman, CMO, Showtime Networks Inc., in a statement. “Our longstanding relationship with Marriott International provides guests access to premium Showtime content and this one-of-a-kind experience builds on that tradition to spotlight these remarkable women.”
“We are thrilled to work with Showtime to bring these First Lady-inspired suites to life,” said Donna McNamara, vice president and global brand leader for The Ritz-Carlton. “Not only is it an exciting opportunity to pay homage to these extraordinary women, but it offers our guests and Marriott Bonvoy members a truly unique and memorable experience.”
The First Lady – starring Viola Davis, Michele Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson as Michelle Obama, Betty Ford and Eleanor Roosevelt, respectively – premieres Sunday, April 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
