A man impresses his dinner date by breaking down the laws of attraction—before making a cliche mistake—as part of a campaign by Argentina’s Ministry of Science for its channel TECtv.

The channel aims to encourage scientific careers for young people, and uses humor to demonstrate how science plays out in our daily lives through the campaign “science almost always helps.”

This spot was one of four that not only won a gold in the 2017 PromaxBDA Latin America Awards for general branding image campaign, but also boosted on-air viewership by nearly 20 percent per month, and helped increase the channel’s YouTube followers.

As a public channel, TECtv also worked with a limited budget—shooting in a single location and letting the concept, script and performances drive the campaign, which specifically targeted U.S. Hispanic audiences.

Recognizing the importance of that demographic, PromaxBDA has launched the 2018 PromaxUSHispanic Awards honoring that market. The ceremony will take place during the 2018 PromaxBDA Latin America Awards on November 14, and the global nonprofit for entertainment marketing is currently accepting through August 30.
