Voiced by the instantly recognizable voice of Iranian-American actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, Xbox dropped the above cinematic trailer for Xbox’s new civilization-building game, Ara: History Untold during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase earlier this month.
“History is filled with moments of greatness – some well known, some lost to time,” Aghdashloo narrates as an infinite zoom sweeps through varying landscapes being built through historic eras. “But what about the history that could have been if you were its architect? How would you reshape the world? What new stories would you tell? And when your people speak, would you listen? How would you lead them in this new world? History is filled with moments of greatness – but these will be yours.”
To capture gamers’ imaginations, creative agencies Gnet and Scholar collaborated to create fantastical landscapes that combined elements of both the past and the future and sometimes placed them in unlikely scenarios – the Great Pyramids surrounded by snow, for example.
Ara: History Untold is slated for release next year at this time.
