Ricky Strauss has been named head of marketing at Apple TV Plus. In his new role, Strauss will lead consumer marketing campaigns, creative advertising, media and promotions for the service’s original series and films.

Premiering on Apple TV Plus this year are new series Dear Edward, Hello Tomorrow, Masters of the Air, The Reluctant Traveler and Shrinking as well as returning shows Ted Lasso, The Afterparty, Schmigadoon!, Servant, Swagger and Truth be Told. Also premiering are films Argylle, Killers of the Flower Moon, Sharper and more.

Strauss takes the job after the departure last year of Chris Van Amburg, who oversaw video marketing, and J.P. Richards, who oversaw film marketing. He reports to Tor Myhren, vice president of Apple’s marketing and communications team, and he will work out of Apple’s Culver City, Calif., offices. Zack Van Amburg (brother of Chris) and Jamie Erlich, both formerly of Sony Pictures Television, oversee the subscription streaming service, which has won Emmys for comedy Ted Lasso and the Best Picture Oscar last year for CODA.

Strauss was at Disney for nine years, most recently as president of content and marketing at Disney Plus. He also acted as president of programming for Hulu and Disney Plus. Prior to that, he was president of marketing for The Walt Disney Studios, working on such films as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy, Frozen, Moana and more.

Prior to joining Disney, Strauss was president of Participant Media, which launched such films as The Help, An Inconvenient Truth, The Cove and Waiting for Superman.
