Rick and Morty is coming back with an adventure similar to the duo’s quests on the show - with the hopes that this one goes far more smoothly.
The Adult Swim animated series launched a scavenger hunt on Instagram that takes fans through a series of puzzles and photos that lead to exclusive footage from the second season, which debuts Sunday, July 26.
The show’s creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland announced the plan this week:

First, start out with Rick and Morty Rickstaverse (its Instagram account) where there is a puzzle of images that make up one larger image. By tapping each piece of artwork, fans can go to “different planets and dimensions.”
Those places eventually take users to private Instagram accounts that lead to exclusive clips from the new season. There are also some games and Easter eggs found along the way.
For example, by tapping the center image, this message pops up: “Double-tap and give Ruben a high five. But make sure to immediately wash your hands afterward. Smart phone screens are disgusting.”
Tapping the square with the earth in it takes users to a separate Instagram account with all new tasks to complete.

Then others tease fans to come back at a later date for that promised exclusive footage:
