AMC’s timing couldn’t be better for Dietland, which will premiere right in the middle of the #MeToo moment in the U.S. on Monday, June 4, and on Amazon in the UK on June 5.

Set in the ferocious world of Manhattan’s beauty industry, the 10-episode drama explores society’s obsession with weight loss, thinness and beauty in a bold and funny way, according to AMC. The series is based on the novel of the same title by Sarai Walker.

Dietland stars Joy Nash as ghost writer Plum Kettle, who answers letters for Margulies’ vicious Kitty Montgomery (think Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada). Montgomery edits the country’s biggest beauty magazine, Daisy Chain.

Dietland is executive produced by Marti Noxon, who is just coming off of the production of HBO’s new limited series Sharp Objects, starring Amy Adams.

The series is a co-production between AMC Studios and Skydance Television. Noxon will serves as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross are executive producers, along with Maria Grasso of Tiny Pyro, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and Jackie Hoyt.
