What would you risk for a chance to have it all?
That’s the question that Renée Zellweger asks in the provocative teaser for What/If, Netflix’s neo-noir anthology series premiering this May.
Written by showrunner Mike Kelley, the series explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale, according to Netflix.
In season one, Zellweger stars as Anne, a woman who makes a morally questionable offer to a pair of cash-strapped newlyweds in San Francisco. She’s later shown dangling a pawn and dropping it onto a chess board, alluding to the “dangerous game” that will be played to her enjoyment.
What/If marks the first major television role for Oscar-winner Zellweger. Jane Levy, Blake Jenner, Samantha Ware, Louis Herthum and Keith Powers also star in the first season. It is produced by Page Fright, Atlas Entertainment and Compari Entertainment in association with Warner Bros Television.
The games begin May 24 on Netflix.
