Violence and mayhem meet unhinged fun in Bethesda’s announcement trailer for Rage 2.

Featuring punk rock, pink and yellow smoke, big guns, mutants and mayhem, the promo delivers a heavy dose of twisted delight for the post-apocalyptic first-person shooter which features an open world for the first time.

Bethesda’s first gameplay trailer is just as an intense.

“Insanity rules” as players experience a “carnival of carnage” where they can “go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything,” according to developers Id Software and Avalanche Studios.

The game is set in the year 2185, where an asteroid has destroyed 80 percent of the world’s population, ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule with an iron fist.

Players assume the role of Walker, the last Ranger: “Robbed of your home and left for dead by the Authority, you’ll need to rage for your freedom using every tool at your disposal”—which includes large weapons and gear, Nanotrite powers and Mad Max-style wasteland vehicles.

When news of the game was leaked last week on the Wal-Mart Canada website, Bethesda leaned into it by posting teaser images on twitter before revealing the official trailers.

Rage 2 is slated for 2019, but a release date has not yet been revealed.
