South of the border, Turner’s Glitz network is on the rise, TBS and Discovery are thriving in Argentina, and the US and Latin America entertainment and lifestyle channel Hola has been launched from Miami. Meanwhile, as HD broadcast heats up, VOD providers such as Cablevision and Telecentro are increasingly making their offerings available online, with DIRECTV’s Play service offering more than 5,000 multiplatform titles by itself.
And that’s only the beginning. In a nutshell, there’s no better time to be in the Latin American television industry, and no better time for PromaxBDA to connect with those dedicated professionals via its 2013 Latin America Road Show, a series of networking and career-development events throughout Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
It all kicks off with a bang next Tuesday, October 29 at Televisa in Mexico City, with a full day of insightful sessions from the likes of loyalkaspar CCO and partner Beat Baudenbacher, Tooth + Nail brand personality expert Linda Button and master media strategist Lee Hunt. The event culminates with a special evening screening of The Best of PromaxBDA 2013, a collection of winning work from recent PromaxBDA awards competitions.
From there, the Road Show travels on, to Contente Produções Ltda. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where, on November 7, PromaxBDA presents another screening of its 2013 Best Of compilation. This marks the first time the association has presented an event in Brazil, and a reception will follow the screening offering a rare chance for media marketing professionals to come together and network over pizza and bebidas.
The screening will repeat itself yet again on November 12, when PromaxBDA arrives at Steinbranding in Buenos Aires, for another round of award-winning work followed by a lively reception. This is the Latin America television industry’s moment, and PromaxBDA will be there, with the creative minds, important discussions and inspiring thought leadership needed to make sure it is a long one.
