As jury deliberations for the 2020 Promax Europe Awards get underway, we’re highlighting the cities where leaders in entertainment marketing will select the winners of this year’s competition.

Historical Fact: Madrid became the capital of Spain in the 16th century. It’s home to the world’s oldest restaurant, Sobrino de Botín, which was founded in 1725.

Pop-culture Tidbit: Pan’s Labyrinth, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly are some of the many movies filmed in Madrid. It’s also home to Europe’s biggest drive-in cinema.

Favorite Food: Cocido Madrileño—chickpea-based stew with meat and vegetables.

Local Cocktail: Viva Madrid’s Media Combinación—gin, vermouth and bitters that’s been a classic at the bar since 1927.
