David Phillips has been promoted to VP, brand marketing and creative at Spike TV, said Terry Minogue, senior VP of brand marketing and creative at Spike TV, to whom Phillips will continue to report.

“David’s dynamic creativity has played a key role in the evolution of the Spike brand over the last few years,” said Minogue in a statement. “We are thrilled to announce his well-deserved promotion and look forward to him taking more of a leadership role within the marketing and creative teams.”

In his new role, Phillips will oversee all of Spike’s on-air creative work and lead a team of producers creating promotional content for the on-air and marketing, digital, social, integrated and sales teams. Phillips previously served as Spike TV’s creative director, a position he held since joining the network in 2008.

Phillips joined the Viacom Entertainment Group in 2005 as a senior writer/producer at Comedy Central, creating on-air promos for various properties including The Colbert Report and The Showbiz Show with David Spade.

Phillips, a British native, began his career at BSkyB in 2000 in on-air production and a year later joined ESPN Classic Sport UK as a senior writer/producer. Phillips moved to the United States in 2005 and had stints at In Demand Networks and ESPN International before landing at Viacom.

He holds a BA in media and cultural studies from Middlesex University in London, UK. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife and two children.
