Peter Rice has been named to the newly created position of president of 21st Century Fox while remaining chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group, which includes Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Sports, FX Networks, National Geographic, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Networks Group Latin America, Europe and Asia.

“Peter has driven exceptional growth at Fox Networks Group during a time of real transformational change in the business, expanding our audiences and innovating new distribution models, from which the company, our shareholders and our customers have benefited greatly,” said 21st Century Fox executive chairman Lachlan Murdoch and CEO James Murdoch, who have long relationships with Rice, in a prepared statement. “Peter’s impact on the business is immense and we are incredibly fortunate to have him with us in this expanded role during this exciting next chapter of the company.”

In his new position, Rice still doesn’t oversee either 20th Century Fox Film, which continues to be led by Stacey Snider, or Fox News Channel, which is being led by Rupert Murdoch. Peter Chernin, who was president of News Corp. from 1996 to 2009 and now runs The Chernin Group, oversaw both the TV and film divisions. Rice came from film before moving over to the TV side of the business, having run Fox Searchlight.
