The People’s Choice Awards is moving to NBCUniversal-owned E! in 2018 after airing on CBS for many years. The show will be produced by NBCU’s Wilshire Studios, which also produces E!’s Live from the Red Carpet.

The 44th Annual People’s Choice Awards — for which E! paid Proctor & Gamble $8 to $10 million, according to the New York Times — will air globally across E!’s 17 international channels reaching 153 countries in 24 languages.

“Rooted in pop culture and celebrity, the People’s Choice Awards is a natural extension for E! and we are excited to evolve and supercharge this fan-centered event for the next generation in a way that only E! can,” said Adam Stotsky, President, E!, in a statement.

The People’s Choice Awards is the only major awards show voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in movies, music, television and digital. Nearly 300 million votes were cast for its most recent installment, which aired January 18, 2017.

The show’s last iteration aired on CBS on Jan. 18, 2017, and averaged 6.66 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among broadcast primetime’s key demographic of adults 18-49, a demo low for the program, according to Variety.

People’s Choice Awards was originally created in 1975 by Robert Stivers. The show was previously owned by Procter & Gamble and produced by Mark Burnett airing on CBS.
