Streaming service Paramount Plus was first off the block at the first in-person meeting of the Television Critics Association since the pandemic struck in early 2020. During the session, the service announced four new shows, one returning show and an original romcom.

Star Trek: Picard, starring Sir Patrick Stewart, returns to Paramount Plus for its third and final season on February 16, although Stewart said during the show’s panel at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena that he would be open to returning for more.

Besides Stewart, the series stars Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Lavar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Brent Spiner. It’s executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin with Matalas serving as showrunner for season three.

Besides the return of Star Trek: Picard, Paramount Plus also has four original series on the slate for this spring: young-adult series School Spirits on March 9; thriller Rabbit Hole, starring Keifer Sutherland as corporate spy John Weir, on March 26; Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies on April 6; and Fatal Attraction, starring Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan and Amanda Peet, on April 30.

Here’s a little more about each series and the upcoming movie:

School Spirits

Peyton List stars as Maddie, a teen girl stuck in highschool in the afterlife, in YA series School Spirits, which is based on the upcoming graphic novel by Nate and Megan Trinrud and Maria Nguyen. The series also stars Kristian Flores, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell and Milo Manheim.

It’s produced by Awesomeness Live-Action Studios with Oliver Goldstick serving as showrunner and executive producer, along with the Trinruds, who wrote the pilot. Max Winkler also executive produced and directed the first two episodes.

Rabbit Hole

Rabbit Hole is produced by CBS Studios and executive produced by Sutherland, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, with Requa and Ficarra also writing and directing. Also executive producing are Charlie Gogolak, Suzan Bymel and Hunt Baldwin. Besides Sutherland, it also stars Charles Dance, Meta Golding, Enid Graham, Jason Butler Harner, Walt Link and Rob Yang.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

Musical series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, set at Rydell High, takes place four years before Danny meets Sandy and it tells the story of how a group of female rebels decide to do their own thing, shocking the school.

Rise of the Pink Ladies stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Jonathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper and Jackie Hoffman.

It’s written and executive produced by Annabel Oakes, who also serves as showrunner and director. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey executive produce for Temple Hill, Adam Fishbach also executive produces and Alethea Jones directed the pilot plus two more episodes and executive produces. Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey executive produce via Picturestart, and the show is produced by Grace Gilroy. Choreography is by Jamal Sims, who also directed, and the music is by Grammy Award nominee and executive music producer Justin Tranter.

Fatal Attraction

Fatal Attraction travels back in time to reimagine the psychosexual thriller of the 1980s that starred Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. The new version explores the story from the point of view of Alex Forrest (Lizzy Caplan) who has an ill-fated affair with Dan Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) and starts stalking him and his wife, Beth (Amanda Pete).

Alexandra Cunningham serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the series alongside executive producer Kevin J. Hynes, with whom Cunningham shares co-story credit, and executive producers Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television. Silver Tree also serves as executive producer and directed five episodes.

Finally, Paramount Plus will debut a new original romcom, At Midnight, starring Diego Boneta and Monica Barbaro as a hotel manager and a movie star who fall in love, on February 10.
