Based on Microsoft’s very popular Xbox video-game series, Paramount Plus is prepping to debut TV series Halo next year after picking up the show from corporate sibling Showtime. The above teaser was released during the live stream of the 2021 Game Awards on Thursday. The next chapter in the video-game series, Halo Infinite, is just releasing on Xbox Series X.

The show had been scheduled to go into production in late 2019 but of course ran into delays due to COVID-19. It was announced in February that the show would move from Showtime to Paramount Plus.

The long-awaited series stars Pablo Schrieber as Master Chief, a green-helmeted super soldier known as a Spartan. Natascha McElone plays Dr. Catherine Halsey, creator of these so-called supes, while Jen Taylor voices Cortana, the most advanced artificial intelligence in human history who also happens to be the name of Microsoft personal productivity assistant, akin to Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa.

The cast also includes Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, Kate Kennedy, Danny Sapani, Olive Gray and Charlie Murphy.

The series is produced by Showtime with Halo video-game developer 343 Industries. Amblin Television also produces, with Steven Kane serving as showrunner and series executive producer along with Amblin’s Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Bathurst and Toby Leslie executive produce for One Big Picture, in addition to Kyle Killen and Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven. Killen, who created and executive produced such shows as Lone Star and Awake, departed the series in late 2019. Kane stuck with it through the post-production process but is not staying on after this season. Kiki Wolfkill, Frank O’Connor and Bonnie Ross serve as executive producers on behalf of 343 Industries.
