Paramount Plus on Sunday night dropped a teaser trailer for its new series 1923, starring Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar nominee Harrison Ford.

The series serves as a prequel to Paramount Network’s hit drama, Yellowstone, which stars Kevin Costner and is created and executive produced by Taylor Sheridan. 1923 introduces a new, earlier generation of Duttons, led by patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren). It is set in the American mountain west in the early 20th century when the country faced pandemics, drought and the Great Depression.

In addition to Ford and Mirren, 1923 also stars Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry) and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones).

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, 1923 is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson.

The series is the latest addition to Sheridan’s growing line-up of original series airing on Paramount Network and Paramount Plus. These include Yellowstone; 1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner; and Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone. Upcoming from Sheridan for the network are Lioness and Land Man.

1923 premieres Sunday, December 18 in the U.S. and Canada and Monday, December 19 in the UK and Australia. It will also air on Paramount Network in the U.S. on December 18, following a new episode of Yellowstone. The series’ second episode will air on Paramount Network on January 1.
