Taking advantage of its vast investment in music content, ViacomCBS-owned Paramount+ on Sunday teased new documentary series, From Cradle to Stage, in Sunday night’s 56th Academy of Country Music Awards.
The docuseries is directed by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and inspired by his mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl and her book, From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars.
“I believe that the relationship between a musician and their mother is so important because it’s the foundation of their understanding of love, which is surely every artist’s greatest muse,” said Grohl in a statement. “Having the opportunity to travel the country and tell the stories of these amazing women behind the curtain not only shed some light on the music that they inspired, but also made me appreciate the love that I was given from my own mother, my best friend. It goes without saying that we are all indebted to the women who have given us life. For without them, there would be no music.”
In addition to the Grohls, the six-episode series will feature Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds and his mom Christene; Pharrell and Dr. Carolyn Williams; Miranda and Bev Lambert; Brandi and Theresa Carlile; Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and his mom Mary; and Rush’s Geddy Lee and his mom Mary Weinrib.
The series comes from From Live Nation Productions, in association with Endeavor Content. It’s executive produced by Dave Grohl and Virginia Hanlon Grohl, Doug Pray, John Ramsay, Michael Rapino, Heather Parry, Ryan Kroft, and Damian Vaca.
The first episode premieres on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 6, on Paramount+.
