Hurricane season has blessedly passed, but the damage wrought by Harvey, Irma and Maria lives on.
Nearly two months after Maria, people on the American territory of Puerto Rico are still without power, fresh water and relief assistance.
In response to Maria’s initial hit, Miami-based 2C Creative, led by Chris and Carla Sloan, Discovery’s Lara Richardson and Spirit Airlines put together Operation Puerto Rico Care-Lift.
The pop-up relief effort, largely funded through a GoFundMe page, provided more than $225,000 in cash and relief supplies, more than 15 flights, and evacuated 500 people from the Northwest corner of the island.

Just because the media spotlight has stopped shining on Puerto Rico doesn’t mean the population isn’t still in need. As a result, the effort continues for the holidays with Operation Puerto Rico Holiday Gift-Lift.
The plan is to fill three Spirit jet planes — starting with a pre-Thanksgiving flight — and send them full of holiday gifts and supplies to the people and children of Puerto Rico. Operation Puerto Rico Holiday Gift-Lift also plans to throw a holiday party for the children and families of Aguadilla.
To donate, head to the effort’s GoFundMe page.
Another option is to head to the organization’s Amazon wishlist and select items to be shipped directly to on-the-ground team.
And finally, unwrapped small gifts and toys can be sent directly to:
