Virtual reality becomes indistinguishable from actual reality in Prime Video’s The Peripheral, starring Chloë Grace Moretz.
The series, which is based on William Gibson’s novel and created by Westworld’s Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, tells the story of Flynne Fisher (Mortez) and her brother, Burton (Jack Reynor), who are trying to support themselves and their sick mother by playing paid simulations.
The simulation becomes all too real when Flynne discovers a secret in the game that puts her and her family in grave danger.
The Peripheral also stars Gary Carr, Eli Goree, Louis Herthum, JJ Feild, T’Nia Miller, Charlotte Riley, Alexandra Billings, Adelind Horan, Alex Hernandez, Katie Leung, Julian Moore-Cook, Melinda Page Hamilton, Chris Coy, Amber Rose Revah and Austin Rising.
The show is produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Television, in association with Kilter Films. In addition to Nolan and Joy, executive producers include Scott B. Smith, director Vincenzo Natali, Greg Plageman, Athena Wickham and Steven Hoban.
The Peripheral, which Prime Video debuted at New York Comic-Con, premieres October 21.
