Nickelodeon’s new year’s resolution could easily be to bring more interactivity to linear television, as it rings in 2019 with an augmented reality marathon of The Loud House designed to bring the show’s characters into viewers’ living rooms.

The The AR integration of New Year’s Eve Loud House Party, which airs December 31 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. works with the network’s free Screens Up app. It features the series’ main character Lincoln Loud enlisting the help of viewers for an important mission: help “collect” his family and best friend in the form of AR “stickers” to to make his big New Year’s Eve dance party the best ever.

When viewers see the characters pop up in graphic overlays throughout the marathon, they can “capture” it by pointing their phone’s cameras a the TV screen. Doing so unlocks the special AR stickers that can be placed anywhere in their world. When all the characters are collected, viewers can unlock a bonus sticker of all the characters doing a special New Year’s Eve dance in their living room.

The AR experience also includes live votes, meme makers, trivia and polls with real-time results tailored using the Screens Up app or on the web at www.loudhouseplay.com.

Nickelodeon also has a lineup of New Year’s Eve programming, including a PAW Patrol marathon from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a “Watch-A-Thon” with movies and specials from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. on TeenNick; and marathons of The Adventures of Kid Danger and Fairly OddParents from 6 am. To 5 p.m. on NickToons.
