​The decision by ESPN and the NFL to forgo sending Draft Day tweets stems from a 2012 Draft Day situation in which NFL insiders were “tipping the picks” before they could be announced on television. Hoping to preserve that sense of anticipation and payoff that can only come from hearing the picks the moment they are announced, the two sports bodies will attempt to ban their staff and related parties from tweeting news ahead of time. Whether they are successful or not remains to be seen.
