Dana Walden and Gary Newman are adding oversight of the Fox Broadcasting Company to their portfolio of duties, which continue to include running 20th Century Fox Television, 21st Century Fox confirmed Monday after reports broke over the weekend. The duo will oversee a new business unit within the Fox Networks Group, called Fox Television Group, and will report to Peter Rice, chairman of Fox Networks Group.

Walden and Newman, who have jointly run TCFTV for the past 15 years, will start their new roles later this month. Running FBC includes programming, digital, marketing and other functions, while TCFTV includes the parent studio, cable production arms Fox 21 and Fox Television Studios, licensing division Fox Consumer Products and syndication division Twentieth Television. While FBC and TCFTV will now be under the same division, they will continue to operate independently, according to 21st Century Fox.

The last time FBC and TCFTV were jointly overseen was a decade ago under the purview of Sandy Grushow.

Brief Take: Broadcast networks are increasingly viewed as barker channels for studio fare. Elevating Newman and Walden to the top of Fox should only increase that integration going forward.
