Netflix plans to stay in the Witcher business for some time to come, Netflix Head of Global TV Bela Bajaria said Thursday at Netflix’s virtual sessions of the summer 2021 Television Critics Association press tour.

Ahead of the season-two premiere of the epic fantasy series, Netflix has signed creator, writer and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich to a multi-year creative partnership, Bajaria said. Season two of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill in the title role, premieres Dec. 17. Hissrich also executive produces the other two series in the Witcher universe thus far: scripted prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin and anime series The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

“I am so thrilled to have found my home at Netflix, and can’t wait to continue what’s been an incredibly fulfilling creative partnership,” Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. “While my heart belongs to The Witcher franchise, I equally look forward to digging in on other exciting projects for their global audience in the years to come.”

Schmidt Hissrich also will develop and produce other scripted series and projects for the streamer.

In addition, Netflix renewed coming-of-age drama Never Have I Ever from Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, just a month after season-two premiered, as well as reality series The Circle for third seasons.

It also revealed a trailer of its upcoming documentary on the relationship between Mohammad Ali and Malcolm X. Produced by Black-ish’s Kenya Barris, Blood Brothers features never-before-seen footage of both men. The documentary feature is inspired by the book Blood Brothers by Randy Roberts and Johnny Smith.

Blood Brothers premieres Sept. 9, 2021 on Netflix.
