“You’ve got nothing but a war inside you,” Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is told in Netflix’s second trailer for its latest comic-book based series Marvel’s The Punisher.
The streamer revealed a premiere date of November 17, after delaying the debut of the violent, gun-heavy series in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting on October 1, and pulling its October 7 panel from New York Comic Con.
The trailer plays down a trigger-happy Frank, and focuses on him grappling with government agents and his military past as he deals with his family’s death.
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone, according to Netflix.
Bernthal was first introduced as The Punisher in Netflix series Daredevil and The Defenders.
In another superhero tie-in, the 13-episode season begins streaming the same day DC’s Justice League hits theaters.
The Punisher is executive produced by showrunner Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal), Jim Chory (Marvel’s The Defenders) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s The Defenders) who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
