Netflix revealed the trailer and key art for futuristic series Altered Carbon, set in a death-defying world where the physical body is as disposable as a pair of shoes.
“Your body is not who you are. You shed it like a snake sheds its skin,” according to the trailer.
The key art addresses just that with a series of images featuring people being reborn as their consciousness is digitized and downloaded into different bodies by the company Psychasec.

The series, based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, follows Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman, The Killing) the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, “on ice,” for centuries, until he was brought back to life after 250 years by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) the richest man on Earth. Kovacs is now tasked with solving Bancroft’s attempted murder in return for the chance to live again in a world he doesn’t recognize.
As the investigation progresses, Kovacs comes to learn that his past isn’t nearly as buried as he thought.
From creator and executive producer Laeta Kalogridis, Altered Carbon also stars Martha Higareda, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Will Yun Lee and Dichen Lachman.
The series premieres February 2 on Netflix.
