Netflix’s trailer for Bobby Kennedy for President begins with his voiceover:

“What I think is quite clear is there is a vision, a violence and a disenchantment with our society. We can start to work together; we are a good country, and a compassionate country.”

The four-part documentary series explores the New York senator’s 83-day journey toward for the White House, to “reveal anew what America gained and what it lost in the life, vision, politics, and hope of Bobby Kennedy” after he was assassinated in 1968 at a Los Angeles hotel just after declaring victory in the California presidential primary.

The series features interviews with Kennedy’s staffers and confidantes such as William Vanden Heuvel, Dolores Huerta, Rep. John Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Paul Schrade, Marian Wright Edelman and Peter Edelman.

“I kept saying to myself, what has happened in America?” says Lewis in the trailer.

The series uses rare and never-before-seen archival footage—much of it digitized for the first time—to transport viewers back to a turbulent and dynamic era, letting Kennedy’s voice and viewpoint serve as the guiding force.

Bobby Kennedy for President is executive produced by Laura Michalchyshyn and Dawn Porter, along with Dave Sirulnick, Justin Wilkes, Jon Kamen, Nestan Berhrans and Gunnar Deddio.

It’s produced by RadicalMedia, Trilogy Films and LooksFilm, and premieres April 27 on Netflix following an April 25 debut at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
