The streaming service revealed Wednesday that it’s continuing this summer’s breakout series with nine new episodes—one more than the show’s eight-episode first season—set to air in 2017.
Season two is set in 1984. Writers, creators and executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer are returning, along with producer 21 Laps, and executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the Duffer brothers spoke about how they left some “dangling threads at the end” of season one to set the stage for a season two.
