This year marks the 40th anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a comedy classic from a legendary group of performers.
And thanks to NBCU, there will soon be one more place to find their body of work.
Furthering its commitment to comedy and streaming content, NBCUniversal is readying its own comedy streaming service, SeeSo, offering up shows including Kids in the Hall and Monty Python’s Flying Circus for $3.99 per month - ad free.
SeeSo will launch as an invitation-only beta site in December - comedy fans can go to the site now and sign up to be one of the lucky few - with a wide release planned for January 2016.
“Big streaming services have created a paradox of choice — they’re great if you know exactly what to watch, but if you aren’t in the middle of a binge, the search can be near endless,” said Evan Shapiro, EVP of digital enterprises at NBCU. “By focusing on a specific yet large niche, and providing a curated experience, we can help viewers find good stuff they might not or cannot find. SeeSo is your neighborhood comedy eatery, with daily specials from a chef you trust.”
SeeSo plans on posting licensed shows, like those above, as well as comedy originals, with guest-curated playlists for more specific comedy categories. Original series, including Dan Harmon’s HarmonQuest, Upright Citizens Brigade’s The UCB Show, Scott Aukerman and Thomas Lennon’s Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, with more to come from Wyatt Cenac and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. SeeSo wants to launch 20 original series in the first year.
NBC properties will also stream on SeeSo, including complete libraries of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, The Office, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
