To launch its new syndicated show, Crazy Talk, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Jerry Springer Show, NBC Universal called on NYC-based Undefined Creative to create new graphics packages for both programs. Undefined Creative has worked with NBCU and Executive Producer Paul Faulhaber on all of its conflict talkers, including Maury and Trisha.

To launch Crazy Talk, which stars Bad Girls’ Club’s Tanisha Thomas and New York Live’s Ben Aaron, Undefined Creative worked to translate Faulhaber’s vision into graphics that captured the show’s flavor and the hosts’ energy.

“Paul’s concept for the set was orange and white, and he immediately saw the logo as squared, something evocative of the two hosts,” said UC Founder and Creative Director Maria Rapetskaya, in a statement. “It’s quite rare that a creative process just comes together so easily and fluidly, but I think it’s really the result of how long Paul and I have worked together. I always joke that he can now send me a sketch on a dinner napkin and I‘ll know precisely what he sees there.”

UC used Cinema 4D to design Crazy Talk’s logo, open, loops, transitions and an ID bar specifically for the pilot, which was shot last year. Once the show was cleared into national syndication, the agency was tasked with expanding the project to cover everything from promos, social media templates and style guides to lower thirds, reaction bubbles and branded frames. The result is a bright and colorful geometric look for a show that’s designed to fun and engaging for fans of daytime and reality TV.

“Maria has been — and always will be — my go-to creative mind when the stakes are high and I need my creative vision fully realized,” said Faulhaber, also in a statement. “I wanted the look of Crazy Talk to cut through the grey matter that floods the airwaves of syndicated television today. The Crazy Talk graphics are one of my favorite packages that Undefined Creative has produced for me. It is clean, incredibly colorful and most of all, truly memorable.”

For Springer, NBCU asked Undefined Creative to create a supplemental graphics package to celebrate the show’s silver anniversary.

The challenge was to mix the show’s current industrial aesthetic with sleek and polished anniversary elements. To create the package, Undefined Creative swapped in shiny silver for black rubber and rusted metal in the show’s current look.

“I think our familiarity with the brand helped tremendously,” said UC Executive Producer Cathy Humphrey in a statement. “We were also very fortunate to have both the show team and the promo team very involved in the feedback to ensure that what we were creating will work with all existing materials.”
