NBC’s new comedy Young Rock is based on the early life of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, who came from humble beginnings and troubled high school years to become one of the world’s biggest movie stars.

The show starts with Johnson running for president in 2032 and looking back at his life. “To understand me,” he says, “you gotta understand where I come from.”

Los Angeles-based creative agency Open Road cut the above trailer that flips back and forth between Johnson’s young years to his current-day stardom.

Johnson, playing himself, stars along with Joseph Lee Anderson, Stacey Leilua, Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, Ana Tuisila, Fasitua Amosa and John Tui.

Nahnatchka Khan, Johnson, Jeff Chiang, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras serve as executive producers.

Young Rock is produced by Universal Television, Seven Bucks Productions and Fierce Baby Productions.

Young Rock premieres Feb. 16 on NBC.
