On Monday, National Geographic Channels International announced it will launch another channel focused on true stories of people around the world.
The new channel, called Nat Geo People, will launch in 50 countries early next year. The newest channel in National Geographic’s expanding brand, Nat Geo People will have programming centered on inspiring people and true stories of their everyday lives.
“Nat Geo People will bring viewers emotional and entertaining true stories of real people; think of it as Real TV as opposed to Reality TV,” said Hamish Mykura, NGCI’s EVP and head of international content. “Our focus is on compelling characters who take you into riveting subcultures and on exhilarating adventures.”
Programming will include celebrity chef’s “David Rocco’s Dolce Vita,” “Food Lover’s Guide to the Planet,” fishing duo “Hook, Line & Sisters” and French journalist Diego Buñuel’s look at inaccessible countries in “Don’t Tell My Mother.”
Nat Geo People will replace Nat Geo Adventure in certain markets.
