For the first time, European film festival MyMetaStories is mounting a virtual version of the festival within online video game platform Minecraft October 13 -16. Visitors will be able to watch 13 short films in a virtual cinema; play mini-games such as “Build Battle” or “Mob Arena,” with concepts and settings inspired by the festival’s films; and run through quests that teach them about various professions in the film industry.

Players can connect to Minecraft servers in English, French and Spanish. To access the virtual film festival in the game, would-be attendees need to install both the Minecraft and the MyMetaStories launchers. Information on how to do that is here.

MyMetaStories is partnering with Minecraft influencers on Twitch, such as Aypierre and The Guill84 for French speakers, Shadoune666 for Spanish speakers and Nihachu for English speakers. These influencers will come online at 8 p.m. (GMT+2) each night of the event to chat with their communities about MyMetaStories. Fans also can connect with the event on TikTok and Discord.

The films are also available for viewers to watch online at MyMetaStories.eu, YouTube and other platforms through October 29.

MyMetaStories is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe Media program as well as by France’s Unifrance, an organization that was founded in 1949 to promote French cinema and TV content worldwide.
