MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) are one of the most social events of the network’s—and of television’s—entire year.
Knowing its social-savvy audience, MTV incorporates Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine and more into the night’s festivities and award coverage on Aug. 30, as well as everything leading up to that night - starting with today.
MTV announced the nominees for the 2015 VMAs this morning via its Twitter account and Beats 1 Chart show on Apple Music.
The Apple Music show as well as a series of images on Twitter congratulated artists including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce - encouraging their social responses.

Cyrus will be the first VMA host since Kevin Hart in 2012.
Fans can now vote for each VMAs category, with special awards MTV Artist to Watch and Best Song of Summer being fully decided on by viewers and announced at the Aug. 30 show.
