Fuse, billed as the network that is “dedicated to music, and brings viewers closer to their favorite artists and bands,” has officially been acquired by SiTV Media, parent company of NUVOtv, the cabler backed by Jennifer Lopez. SiTV reportedly outbid Puff Daddy’s music channel Revolt and will pay $226 million for Fuse.
Madison Square Garden Company’s Fuse is carried in 73 million homes in the U.S. and underwent a rebrand just last year. The deal has the potential of giving more publicity to SiTV’s NUVOtv, helping along relationships with its existing distributors and allowing cross-promotion between the two networks. MSG will gain a 15 percent stake in the combined assets, though Fuse and NUVOtv will operate independently.
“It’s exciting that between NUVOtv and Fuse we’ll have the ability to deliver a broad array of terrific content both from a Latino perspective and across multiple genres, including music, to a broader audience,” Jennifer Lopez, NUVOtv’s chief creative officer, said in a statement. “The acquisition of Fuse means we now own two wonderful assets.”
NUVOtv, the English-language network aimed at Latinos, is available in about 30 million homes across the country and has deals with major distributors like AT&T, Comcast, Dish Network and Time Warner Cable.

Brief Take: The Hispanic television audience is among the fastest growing in the country, making it also the most sought-after. As content on Hispanic-based networks becomes more varied and as diverse as its audience, it’s important for niche networks like these to market themselves properly to their growing fan bases.
