Actor Morgan Freeman preps the man in the mirror Jimmy Kimmel, who is “on the precipice of hosting the Oscars” in a spot for ABC.

In the 30-second clip, Freeman’s voice-of-God can be heard off-camera giving Kimmel words of encouragement… at first.

The talk takes an awkward turn when Freeman’s encouraging words become anything but, saying the master of ceremonies role can be “an opportunity to be the toast of the town” or a “chance to bomb so fantastically, everywhere he goes people would say, ‘Look at sucky sucko — he had his shot, and man, did he blow it in front of billions.’”

Kimmel looks up, giving Freeman the side-eye, who is revealed to be standing above him, saying that his speech isn’t necessarily helping him feel confident.

“Well, fine,” replies Freeman. “Do your own damn pep talk.”

The Oscars will be telecast live on Feb. 26 on ABC.
